Celebrate like August the Strong in Pillnitz Castle and Park

At the time of August the Strong the summer residence of the Saxon court was a place of numerous parties and wild games. Whether birthdays, weddings and fairs featuring shooting matches, duck or hare hunts – luxurious parties took place, often lasting for days. We invite you to a festivity which could have taken place in those days – games with bowls and skittles, throwing games with balls and rings, »hit the pot« and wooden bird shooting, with court jesters and their fun games, with slapstick, dancing and exquisite food.

Celebrating on the river Elbe

...and that with the oldest and largest paddle steamer fleet in the world. The ships, almost all of which originate from the 19th century, are still in part run today with the original steam engines. The ships or individual salons can be chartered all the year round for individual trips and festivities. In addition the Saxon Steamer Company offers an extensive programme of regular services and special cruises, amongst others »City tours by water«, »Castle Trips« to Pillnitz Castle, »World Heritage Tours« and atmospheric winter and Christmas Tours.

Royal Weesenstein – an audience with King Johann of Saxony

Valet Julius Wachs greets you to a guided tour through the private rooms of King Johann accompanied by music. You will learn many interesting details of the life of the most important member of the Wettin dynasty in the 19th century, as his property in Weesenstein reached stony fame. The guided tour is concluded with a small celebration menu in the Royal Castle Kitchens, the original kitchens of King Johann of Saxony.
