Porcelain town of Meissen
In the course of its history stretching over 1,000 years Meissen became famous the world over thanks to its porcelain which has been manufactured here since 1710. Our programme begins with a visit to the Porcelain Manufacture. Masterpieces of the »White Gold« are manufactured here and the most beautiful pieces from the past and present are exhibited. This is followed by a walking tour through the historical old town of Meissen, ascending up to the Burgberg, where Germany’s oldest residence palace, the Albrechtsburg, is situated.

Moated Castle Moritzburg
The baroque hunting castle of Moritzburg enjoys the reputation of being one of the most beautiful moated castles in Europe. During the guided tour you will be impressed by the collection of hunting trophies, the valuable leather wallpaper variations, the hunting utensils and the expensive fittings of the castle. A walk will later take you to the little pheasant castle and to the mole and lighthouse which were built solely for the purpose of carrying out water battles in the 18th century. If wished the trip to Moritzburg can also be made with one of the oldest light railways in Germany.

Elbsandsteingebirge (Elbe Sandstone Mountains) - Saxon Switzerland
First stop on this trip is Pillnitz – after a guided tour through the park of the former summer residence of the Saxon Court the trip goes on via Lohmen to the National Park of Saxon Switzerland to the most beautiful look-out point in Europe, the Bastei. Go on to the Bastei bridge or carry on your trip to the Fortress of Königstein and experience on a guided tour Germany’s greatest fortress and a unique panorama view of the impressive table mountains of Saxon Switzerland. Finally drive back to Dresden.

The Oldest Arboretumin the World – The Forest Botanical Gardensof Tharandt
The Forest Botanical Gardens(35 hectares) are to be foundabove the town of Tharandt andare reputed to be the oldest scientifictree collection world-widewith trees which are 200 years old.The gardens with their approximately3,000 tree species offerspectacular views into the surroundingvalleys. Since 2001 the gardenshave been extended to includethe »Forstpark Tharandt«. In thegrounds visitors can see replicasof the Appalachian and RockyMountains and near the idylliclakes »Great Lakes« and »TheGreat Salt Lake« various typesof North American forest are beingcreated realistically.

The Christmas traditions of the Erzgebirge – the Ore Mountains
Our first stop on this trip is Freiberg, one of the first free mountain towns in Germany and a source of wealth to the Saxon rulers because of the silver mines. On a walking tour get acquainted with the historical old town which has been extremely well restored and visit St. Mary’s Cathedral with its world famous Golden Portal, the »Tulpenkanzel« (Tulip pulpit) and the Silbermann organ.

Then you go on to the so-called »Spielzeugdorf« Seiffen (toy village), the centre of the traditional crafts of the Erzgebirge. Experience here in an exhibition workshop the production of wooden »gems« of the Christmas season such as Nutcrackers, Smokers, Christmas candelabra and Christmas pyramids. Return journey to Dresden.

Sightseeing trip through the Lausitz, the land of the Sorbs
The first stop on this trip is Bautzen, where we will take you through the mediaeval core of the town, much of which is in its original state. Then we go on to Görlitz. This old commercial centre situated on the Polish border has a surprisingly rich variety of buildings. The architecture of 5 centuries – from the 15th to the 20th century – awaits you in Görlitz.
- TIPP for the journey: Take a detour to Herrnhut, the Centre of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine – a religious movement, or visit the Cistercian Monastery of St. Marienstern.
