Situated next to the Grosser Garten, the largest and most beautiful park in the city, VW has constructed a »Transparent Factory«, which allows you to experience car production at first hand. Continuing in the tradition of Saxon precision work you will be able to watch the assembling of the Phaeton – accompanied by the love of detail and perfection.

Radeberger Export Beer Brewery
In Radeberg, 15 km from Dresden, you will find one of the most modern breweries in Germany. The brewery was founded in 1872 as a shareholder brewery and is the first brewery in Germany to brew beer solely in the Pilsner fashion, which it does to this day. Experience the beer production of one of today’s leading premium beers from the brewing to the bottling process. In the second part of the programme you will be able to enjoy a glass of Radeberger Pilsner and Zwickelbier (unfiltered Radeberger Pilsner) and experience in humorous way things which you definitely should know about concerning your personal beerdrinking at home.

Lange & Söhne
After the German reunification in 1990 Walter Lange returned to his home town of Glashütte in order to take up once again the work begun in 1845 by his legendary greatgrandfather, his aim – to make once again the best watches in the world in Glashütte. The presentation of the wristwatch collection by A. Lange & Söhne in the year 1994 was an overwhelming success. These watches have one more become legendary. Today A. Lange & Söhne is world-wide one of the most exclusive and famous brands of international precision watchmaking. The first boutique worldwide will be opened in Quarter F at the Frauenkirche church in Dresden and with it a piece of Lange world will be created. For it is not just a question of selling watches but above all of presenting the company at its place of origin.

Glashütte Original
The roots of the watch manufacture Glashütte Original can be traced back to the year 1845. The watches of Julius Assmann, Adolf Lange or Johannes Dürrstein made the Glashütte watch factories famous far beyond the German borders. Today at Glashütte Original mechanical masterpieces are once again being created after a tradition which is more than 160 years old according to the strict rules of the old Glashütte watchmaking. The use of modern technology takes into account the highest claims to precision and durability.

Schloss Wackerbarth
Europe’s first »touch and taste« winery has used its reconstruction to integrate special attractions for visitors. In this way your hosts let you in on the secrets of the production of wines and sparkling wines. Experience the excitement connected with the alcoholic fermentation and find out how the bubbles get into the sparkling wine. It goes without saying that Schloss Wackerbarth doesn’t carry out any »dry« tours of the winery. In the subsequent tasting of the fine wines and sparkling wines you will taste the difference that 800 years of experience in wine-growing in Saxony make.

Porcelain Manufacture Meissen
Europe’s first porcelain manufacture has been located in Meissen since 1710. The Porcelain Museum which is situated next to the factory gives the visitor insight into the design of Meissen porcelain from the beginnings to the present day. The skilled handicraft needed to create Meissen porcelain is demonstrated in four stages in the special demonstration workshops.

Blue Printed Textiles Workshop Folprecht
A handicraft unchanged for over 300 years: The fabric is first of all imprinted with old wood blocks (moulds), afterwards dyed with indigo and finally washed out with diluted sulphuric acid, so that the white pattern radiates from the blue background. No two pieces are exactly the same. Every individual production step from the draft to completion is carried out by hand. The guided tour includes an explanation of the history and technology of this mediaeval handicraft, as well as a demonstration of the individual production steps in the various workshops.

Dresden’s First Speciality Distillery
According to Dresden’s archives there used to be 113 distilleries in the city around 1900. »Dresden’s First Speciality Distillery« is now the only one in Dresden and is carrying on this old tradition, making use of the rich supplies of fruit from old mixed orchards in the surrounding countryside. Fine distillates of world-class quality are produced from these unique resources – pesticide-free, longforgotten fruit species. During a guided tour and tasting session you will be able to acquaint yourself with the unique variety of aromas of these fine fruit schnapps. The fruit schnapps varieties are distilled from September to February, specialities such as liqueurs and beer schnapps from March to May.

Winery Proschwitz Castle
Prince zur Lippe
Directly opposite the time-honoured Albrechtsburg Meissen you will find the vineyards of the oldest and with 70 hectares largest private winery in Germany’s eastern region. Already in 1996 Proschwitz Castle was accepted into the prestigious German Wine Association (Verband deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter) VDP as the first and up to now only Saxon member. Experience the scrupulous care in the handling of vintage wines, the guided tours to the wine cellars and wine-tasting sessions. On guided tours through the baroque castle and grounds you will learn how the winery and the restoration of the buildings has taken place since 1990.
